I love Pinterest. Not as much as my husband, who pins daily, but I am on there a lot. About 4 months ago I came across the “Sunshine in a Box” gift idea. I knew I wanted to make one for my best friend. She moved back home with her mom so she could go to school full time and while I am super excited for her, I miss her dearly as it meant she moved out of state. She is nearing the end of her journey at the college level and this summer she moves on to a state university (and even further away). This semester has been challenging and I wanted to lift her up with some California Sun and love from me.
So I was on the prowl for lots of “yellow” goodies to fill her box. I found lots of fun stuff in the Odds ‘n ends bins at Michael’s and Target.
1. Mini Golden Oreos
2. EOS lip balm
3. Yellow note cards
4. Initial Note Cards
5. Hand Lotion
6. Makeup Mirror
7. Peeps (Easter is coming up)
8. M & M’s
9. Hawaiian deodorant (her dream vacation location)
10. Juicy Fruit gum
12. Soap with Initial
13. Sunshine Cup Cozy (Free crochet pattern)
14. Yellow Picture Frame (added a picture of us)
I use a “Priority Mail- Flat Rate Medium Box”
I found this perfect “You are my Sunshine” print out here Send a “Box of Sunshine”
There are lots of yellow items out there. If you are on pinterest you can look up “sunshine box” for a lot of ideas. Don’t want to send “sunshine” you can send the persons favorite color. Make it a “Purple Box” or “Pink Box” and include all purple or pink items. The possibilities are endless.
Sunshine to someones life.......
Twas the night before Saturday and all through our homes,
Pam, Lisa, Crystal and Stephanie were working on this poem.
Our Stocking patterns were designed with lots of love and care.
In hopes that you’d make them so your mantels would be less bare.
With patterns listed on Ravelry, and coupon codes ready,
Yarn and hooks all picked out, crochet fast, hands steady!
Papers flying, hooks wielding, the final product in sight!
Oh no! Weaving ends! Always gives us a fright!!
With our beautiful stockings hung up for all to see,
We can be so proud knowing they were “Made By Me”.
Staring out the window on this cold and blustery nigh,
We hold our hooks tight and give out a cry.
“Now Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!
Hung by the chimmeny! Hung up on the wall!
Now hook away! Hook away! Hook away all!!

This year I wanted to include more handmade items under my tree and for gift giving. As a small business, I understand the importance of shopping small and choosing quality over quantity and not looking for the cheapest prices. I found great deals and took advantage of the Cyber Monday Sale on Storenvy.
I recommend each of these shops.
I LOVE the craftsmanship and quality I received with Peyton from Penelope's Eclectic Closet.
Peyton was given to our grandaughter. I know this will be a doll she will treasure for years to come. I will be purchasing a dress in the future.

Leon the Lucky Irish Lion from Kiser Krafts may have traveled far to find his forever home but he found the perfect one. I bought Leon for my youngest Nephew. J.T. (who is one and a half) was a little scared of Leon at first however I hope over time he will grow to love him.

I added this little guy to my personal Snowman collection. I love this purchase as it was a surprise which snowman you received. Thank you Kiser Krafts.
My next purchase was for my Secret HodgePodge Crochet Sister. The person I was matched to loved Tinkerbell and I knew to go to Tami over at Puka Pey for the perfect stitch markers. When I asked Tami to make me these she did an awesome job. While I was placing my order I saw the cutest little nativity I couldn't resist for myself.

I love toys that are meant to be played with and these little guys are great for the imagination. My boys woke up to find them in their stockings. Landon's Toy Box has many different ones to chose from. Looking for the perfect personalized gift? Landon's has something for everyone.

I purchased these Drawsting Pouches from Virtuous Mommy for my Nieces and Nephews. I put little lego kits inside them, then as we were running around the morning of our family Christmas gathering I LEFT them in my closet! Yes, these are the "lost" gifts in my house this year. We all have them. The ones you find after and think to yourself- well looks like I don't have to buy Birthday presents this year. LOL!!
What were your "lost" presents?

While I didn't get these to give as gifts, I did get them to go on gifts that I will be making this next year. I couldn't leave out Violet's Bud, she makes some of the most beautiful hair accessories and always willing to play with new ideas.
Descending leaves fall to the ground,
Twirling, twisting, round and round,
Autumn season is almost here,
The smell of freshness is oh so near.

Fall is my favorite time of the year. Although living in Southern California it doesn't have the same feel as it does in other areas. I miss the changing colors, the cool breeze, and the smell of a fire burning in the fireplace.
To us, Fall looks like school supplies, field trips to Riley's Farm for one of their educational adventures and this year I think we may enjoy the Sleepy Hollow dinner. You can't leave the farm without a fresh apple pie.
making apple cider.........
On the business side of my life, Fall means it's time to pull out all the warm and cozy patterns and get to work. Christmas shoppers are starting to think about what to get family and friends and the orders start to roll in. This is the Mountain Lace Infinity pattern by Crafting Friends.
Here I am trying on one of my pieces from the Dylan line by Sincerely Pam. This is the Dylan Slouch. I also have the Dylan Legwarmers, Wrist Warmers, Hooded Cowl and Mittens available. One of my favorite patterns.
and no Fall is complete without some Halloween fun...... I will be working on more baskets from the patterns of A Crochet Simplicity. I have the Minions, Batman, Spiderman, and some others in my line for you this year.
What does Fall look like for you?
What started off as a small party for our sons 5th birthday quickly grew into an all out life size game of Angry Birds with the help of Pinterest. I was inspired by several different pins I found including this Table Setup over on Catch my party.
I found this Free Printable Party Kit over at Shery K Design and was so thankful. It includes invitations, banner, cupcake wrappers, treat boxes and more.
The hit of the party was the life sized game.........
I found Instructions for the DIY Giant Angry Bird Slingshot over on Simply Styled Home's blog.
My husband quickly went to work and came up with this sling shot. It didn't make it through the entire party as the kids, I mean adults took over and they were a little to rough.
As you can see the sling shot got quite a workout. The kids had just as much fun piling up the boxes as they did knocking them down.
Angry Birds Pin the Beck to the Bird Game- Age old party favorite with a twist. Instead of a tail the kids pin becks on the bird. Found the template and idea here: Pin the Beck game
It's time to reveal the projects from the Mad Mad Makers Fabric Challenge. I had so much fun. I admit when I first opened the package containing our mystery fabric I freaked out. I had a project in mind and "lace" was not going to work. I have never worked with lace before so this was going to be very interesting. My last sewing project was over 12 years ago when I made a pair of country cows wearing a frilly dress and overalls.
I quickly started brain storming and my final piece came to life.
The other participants in the fabric challenge had just as much fun as I did. I have included their final pieces as well. Some of these items are available for purchase. Click on the links to find out more about each participant.

I love when customers send me pictures of my work being enjoyed. Most of my orders are custom pieces. I get a lot of "Can you make?" My time and love goes into each hand crocheted item and I am so thankful for all my customers. Thank you for choosing Pink Snail Boutique.
Little O loves her Loopsy inspired earflap hat. Perfect for those cold winters where she lives.
This past Christmas I had so much fun making gifts. Here are a few I made for family.
I am a small business owner who loves to design pieces for others to enjoy. Mother, student, and employee, I needed an outlet that I could enjoy for myself. Pink Snail Boutique carries items I hand make myself in my own home. I purchase most of my supplies from other small business owners. #shoplocal #shophandmade
